Kanwaljit Singh (Director)

Kanwal is the co-founder of Helion (http://www.helionvc.com/) and serves on the boards of Jigrahak Mobility, Hurix Systems, Amba Research, and Humming Bird Suites. He has over 20 years of experience in venture investing, marketing, and business development across multiple sectors in India.

Before founding Helion, Kanwal served as the Director and Co-head of The Carlyle Group’s India venture operations. At Carlyle, he helped define the strategy for Carlyle-India, invested in over half a dozen companies, and worked closely with the portfolio companies to help them accelerate their business.

Earlier, during his 10-year stint at Hindustan Unilever, he handled sales, brand management, and product innovation. Subsequently, as the Marketing Head for Intel (South Asia), Kanwal was extensively involved in corporate branding, channel and OEM marketing, and public relations.

Kanwal was rated as one of the 25 hottest young managers by Business Today, a leading Indian business magazine.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Punjab University and an MBA in marketing and finance from the Faculty of Management Studies, New Delhi.

Prashanth Prakash (Director)

Prashanth is a partner at Accel (http://www.accel.com/) and serves on the boards of Kaati Zone, Cnergyis, HolidayIQ, and other early-stage companies.

Earlier, Prashanth was a partner at Erasmic Venture Fund. Before joining Erasmic, Prashanth founded NetKraft and established it as one of the leading offshore solutions company focusing on retail and healthcare verticals. NetKraft was acquired by Texas-based Adea Systems.

Previously, Prashanth also Founded VisualReality, a multimedia publishing company.

Prashanth holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Delaware, USA, and an Undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the Bangalore Institute of Technology, India.

Pradipta Mohapatra (Director)

Pradipta Mohapatra is a doyen of Indian Retail Industry. Mr. Mohapatra has been Director on the Main Board of RPG Enterprises, a US 3.0 Bn. Business house in India. During the last 14 years on the Main Board he has held a variety of positions including Chief Executive as well as supervising CEO's. His areas of work responsibilities had been overseeing businesses in Technology Sector viz. IT & BPO, Pharma and Bio-Tech., as well as Cables Business.

 

He has to his credit, the role of founding organized retailing business in India through a variety of formats; Supermarkets (Foodworld), Drug Stores (Health & Glow), Entertainment Stores (Musicworld) & Hypermarkets (Giant). He sits on the Board of a number of companies in India, USA, Europe and Asia Pacific. He has also worked in a variety of public positions such as President of the Madras Management Association, Executive Council Member of the All India Management Association and was the past Chairman of Confederation Of Indian Industries Southern Region.

He is the co-founder and Chairman of the Executive & Business Coaching Foundation India Ltd and Chennai Business School Ltd. Pradipta has Co-authored 'India's Global Powerhouses', a book published by Harvard Business School Publishing recently.

Kumar Sudarsan (Founder & Director)

Kumar has about 15 years of IT-industry experience spanning various aspects of technology, project, product, general management, and customer-relationship management.

During his 6-year stint at VeriFone, Kumar was involved in designing, developing, and implementing products for credit- and debit-payment switches and processors, stored-value payments at large financial institutions, third-party processors, and retailers.

As General Manager–Delivery at Aztecsoft, Kumar successfully engineered a number of web, middleware, and database-technology products. At Hewlett Packard, he managed the engineering function for multi-million-dollar product lines, as Section Manager-R&D.

Kumar holds a Master’s Degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, India.

Bhaskar Vasudevan (Founder & Director)

With 14 years of experience in the IT industry, Bhaskar has extensive experience in hands-on technical development, software architecture, R&D Product Engineering, project-management, and senior-management functions.

As an Architect at OpenView R&D Labs, US, Bhaskar was responsible for delivering high-quality, multi-million-dollar software products and services to large, global enterprises. Bhaskar was solely instrumental in setting up and managing offshore operations for MetricStream.

A proven authority on middleware technologies, Bhaskar has co-authored two books on CORBA programming, which have been published by Wiley Books.

Bhaskar holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from RPI, New York, USA and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India.
